Job Description

Job title: HSE Advisor
Job type: Permanent
Start date: ASAP - Subject to clearance
Salary: £50,000-£60,000 per annum
Location: Cumbria (Seascale/Moor Row)
Hours of work: 38 hours Mon-Fri

Applicants must posses the following:
- Nuclear experience or other highly regulated industry
- Ability to gain SC clearance (if not already held)
- Professional certification in health and safety (e.g., NEBOSH, OSHA, IOSH) preferred.
- Experience in health, safety, and/or environmental management
- Strong knowledge of applicable health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards.
- Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and managing health, safety, and environmental programs.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
- Proven ability to work independently, prioritise tasks, and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and other relevant software applications.

Role information:
- The Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) Advisor will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining health, safety, and environmental programs to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and company standards.
- The successful candidate will provide expertise, guidance, and support to all levels of the organisation to promote a culture of safety and environmental stewardship.
- Develop, implement, and maintain health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and programs in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
- Conduct regular inspections, audits, and risk assessments to identify hazards, assess risks, and implement controls to mitigate potential incidents.
- Provide guidance and support to management and employees on health, safety, and environmental matters, including training, coaching, and consultation.
- Investigate accidents, incidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
- Maintain records, documentation, and reporting systems related to health, safety, and environmental performance, ensuring accuracy and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Stay abreast of regulatory developments, industry trends, and emerging risks in health, safety, and environmental management, and recommend appropriate actions to address them.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate health, safety, and environmental considerations into business processes, projects, and decision-making.
- Participate in emergency response planning and drills to ensure preparedness for potential emergencies or crises.
- Foster a culture of safety, environmental responsibility, and continuous improvement through communication, training, and recognition programs.
- Support the development and implementation of sustainability initiatives to minimise environmental impact and promote resource efficiency.
